If you have the time, check out the video pages, the newest addition to the site. Primarily family and friends, but other things may show up as well. Recently, I added a random picture block from the photo album on the right side. Here's hoping you like the changes.

If you are curious about how changes in principal affect the length of a loan, click on the loan calculator link in the navbar and download a spreadsheet I built a couple years ago. I've found it fun to play with, and useful to evaluate whether paying extra on a loan is worthwhile for you. Try it, you'll like it.

The RIAA is still at it, ruining lives to try and frighten people into abandoning file-sharing. Many more lawsuits (over 10,000 now) and no end in sight. They weep their crocodile tears and lament the plight of the artists that are being 'stolen' from. What about all the years the record companies were the pirates? It's no secret that the major recording labels stole the rights to many artists' works (excuse me, they were 'given' the rights). The musicians and artists agreed to this theft because it was the only way they saw to get the music out there. That and the promise of big payoffs that may or may not have occurred.
If you really want to hit the RIAA where it hurts, stop buying cds and videos. But that would be too hard on those that feel their life is incomplete unless they have the newest release of ________ __________ (fill in the blank).

JUST SAY NO!!!!

I thought I would share a somewhat unique photo I took a few weeks ago. I was at the local gun club sighting in a new scope on my rifle and just happened to have my new Minolta DiMage A2 along. Here's what I saw:
target picture

There was a great deal of discussion about how unusual it was for a bullet to set a target on fire. Most everyone agreed they had not seen anything like it before. That's my favorite kind of picture to take...the odd or unusual. Unfortunately, I'd had the camera for one day and was still trying to figure it out, so it's a bit out of focus. Oh, well. In spite of that, it's a neat picture.

Head over to the "Articles" section of the site to check out the latest offering on keeping your computer secure. You'll find advice and recommendations for configuration changes, tools and utilities, and in general, why you need to become familiar with this aspect of owning a internet-connected PC. The issues discussed are the things I've found to be most important in order to practice "Safe Computing".
