About Me

I was born in the early 1950's and grew up listening to the Beach Boys, Paul Revere and the Raiders, Herman's Hermits, the Beatles, the Ventures, and lots of other 60's groups, thanks to my brothers. My biggest influences were Credence, Grand Funk, Black Sabbath, and Cream. My mother told me over and over that I would eventually begin to like country music, and as it turned out, she was almost right. While I was in the U. S. military, I bought an acoustic guitar and began to listen to and learn the music of Neil Young, America, Dave Mason, John Denver, Cat Stevens, and others. After leaving the military, I got married and moved to Hawaii. There, I began to get involved in playing folk masses at local churches, and played at a club in Waikiki. That was about the time I wrote my first song (That Way). After returning to the mainland, I continued to play at folk masses, but not much else. We eventually moved to Lawrencebug, where I somehow got hooked up with a Bluegrass band called "Brushfire"( recent news). That was great fun, and lasted about 5 years. Soon after, we moved to Michigan, where we live today. Since moving here 16 years ago, I've been involved in folk masses, bar bands, music festivals, writing and recording, and raising my seven children. The picture shows me with my oldest grandchild. This must have been in the spring of 2001, during track season, since I have a bit of a sunburn on my head.
